What do a sexy Mr. Clean, historic immigrant, activist Melissa McCarthy and blind Indian friends have in common? They are all subjects of 2017’s most watched YouTube advertisements.
In a time when we find ourselves amid cultural change and movements toward acceptance it’s great to see brands take note and take a stand. YouTube notes that compared to 2016, over three times as many of this year’s top ads carry themes of inclusion, diversity and empowerment. The ads were also generally longer, twice as long with one over 7 minutes.
The single most watched ad in 2017 gathered well over 150 million views and was actually from India…and it will give you all the feels.
We love the feel-good nature of ads and hope to see more in 2018.
